So we've had some bad eye luck around here lately. Monte was throwing a rock up into the air and it came straight down onto his face. I saw him doing it and thought "that's going to hit him in the head." I told him "that's going to hurt if it comes down and lands on your head," made him get far away from Kit, and went to make lunch. Just a couple minutes later, I heard crying and went to see him with a big ol blot of blood on his eye. (I did make sure that the rock wasn't big enough to actually hurt him if it landed straight on his head) Let them learn, right?!
So after texting several people pictures and talking to Gunnar, we decided to go with a butterfly bandage and skip a trip to the ER for stitches.

We were out so I made one of sorts out of athletic tape until Daddy got home with some real ones. It happened right at lunchtime so he was hungry and tired. As soon as he ate lunch and got full, he acted like he didn't even know it was there and was right back outside playing so I don't think it actually hurt very much after the initial hit.
I had to shave his eyebrow a little to help to bandage stick so he looked a little funny for a while. He didn't like me touching it but did a good job letting us doctor it as needed.
Grapes as a "what a brave boy" reward helped some too! ;)
He did a good job not touching it or messing with it so it healed up super quickly. It had actually sealed back together by the time we changed the bandage that night.
Morning snuggles
The day, actually within minutes of deciding it was healed enough to take off the bandage, he tripped while running and hit a shelf a quarter inch above the cut. BOYS! hehe You can see the line, where he hit the shelf. We decided to leave it bandaged one more day...
So just a few days after Monte's eye healed up, Kit tripped while being silly and nailed the tension rod part of the screen door. He cut his eye as close as possible to him eye without actually getting into his eye ball. It made me nervous for a little while until we got it cleaned up and could see that it didn't actually get his eye.
Silly boy!
So Monte's eyebrow is still working on growing back but other than that it all healed up well. (This was the best picture I could find where he was close enough to the camera to tell what his eye looked like. I was showing him how crazy his hair was!)
So all well's that ends well right?!
