Moments in Life

New Years Bonfire

Monte and Steele seem to have a special relationship.  I love to watch them together.  He was telling Steele what everything was behind the flaps and seemed to think that Steele actually understood him.  It was super sweet.

Kit sleeps like this quite often, especially if he wakes up for some reason during the night and is settling down to go back to sleep.  I just love it so much!

This was the first time all three boys were "playing" near each other.  I looked up and saw them like this, each busy doing their own thing, and had a epiphany moment of what it will be like in the future when I actually have three boys and not two boys and a baby like it is now.

Monte made Joseph go bow hunting in the tree stand, in a palm tree one day.  He has his ladder from his new Christmas toys, Joseph from their nativity and a mixture of animals all down!

Kit loves wearing my or Gunnar's shoes and will hang out in them for a while!  It was comical watching him walk around in these big snow boots!

Sara brought a gingerbread kit over the other day for the kids to do together.  We both were skeptical of how well it would go down but the kids all loved it and did really well together.  Adeline is the cutest thing ever here waiting for us to get started!

So only one kid is looking but all four are smiling so I call that a win!  Sara and I talked about how we look forward to when they're all a little older and can all do their own and we can have a cousin ginger bread house contest or something.

Patching fence.  The boys and Uncle Reb got in on the action too.

In their minds they were being very helpful bending old wire back on itself.

I love this picture.   Reb and Gunnar actually working, a baby in the grass "watching" and the two big boys playing in the truck bed.

Kit has been obsessed with his shark and seal lately.  They always have to be in his bed to sleep with him at night and one night he told me, "Well it's not a mad shark, he's a happy shark so he's the seal's friend."

Gunnar and some buddies got to go on a sand hill crane hunt.  He had a great time and the meat is so good!  They call it "the rib eye of the sky" and I'm a believer! I told Gunnar, "this just doesn't taste like a bird!"

Gunnar took the boys on their first spot and stalk hunt and he was able to shoot a deer!  He told me, "I just can't believe that worked!! How did she not see us?!"  They spotted her up a fence line about 300 yards away and hid behind a brush pile while she made her way toward them.  Gunnar said that at one point both boys walked out from behind the pile to see her and she never saw them.  even though it was just a doe, he said that it was "epic" because be got to take Monte and Kit!

Kit Lawson - 3 years old

Favorite Color - Red (pronounced reaaaad in a hick accent)
Favorite Food - Oatmeal (pronounced "antmeal")
Favorite toy - Diggers
What do you like about Monte? - "oh his diggers. What I like about Monte is his diggers....yeah"
What do you like about Steele? "um him crying.  You feeding him."
What do you like about Daddy? "him eating his oatmeal...um him playing his football and I like him fixin' his lights too."
What do you like about Mama? I like you playing with us.  And I like you working too and washing dishes.

Always puts his underwear on backwards and when asked if he wants them the right way says emphatically, "But I like them like them this way!"

Responds with "oh sure." often when asked to do something.

Wakes up with a crazy mohawk everyday!  Probably going to be the story of his life thanks to his double cowlicks.

LOVES swimming and has NO fear, which both makes me proud and nervous!  He loved jumping in and going under without his floatie!

Steele Samuel - 3 months old

Steele man is 3 months old!

Weight:

Diapers: Size 2 but I am going to have to move him up soon.  The 2s are getting too short.

Clothes: 3-6 month clothes.  6 month clothes fit perfectly, not too big at all...

- Went Christmas tree shopping... wasn't a huge fan.

Kit on the left, Steele on the right.  Exact same age, same jacket....TOTALLY different fit!  haha I couldn't even zip it up all the way on Steele without choking him!

- Transfers easily without nursing from bed to car seat, to truck, then back to bed if he goes to bed somewhere else and we take him home later.
- Loves his play mat now and can see and grab the toys.  I thought he would love looking at the tree and lights but he didn't really seem to care or notice...

- Still definitely favors Monte as a baby.  Monte on the left, Steele on the right.

- First Grierson trip!  We were going to go to Grierson for Thanksgiving but since the flu canceled those plans, we went a couple weeks later just for fun!

- First tent nap!

- Has discovered himself in the mirror and finds himself completely fascinating!

- Hangs out with us in the bumbo quite often now.  Works really well in the evenings when he's a little fussy and wants to be right with us!

- On a pretty reliable schedule now.  Generally takes two shorter morning swing/or wherever naps, then goes down for a long 2-4 hour afternoon nap in his bed.  Sometimes he takes a short evening cat nap, sometimes not based on how long his afternoon nap lasted, then goes to bed around 7:30 - 8:30.

- First Christmas!

- Likes walks but mostly just falls asleep.  Outside does not seem to be the cure all that it was with his brothers...

- His clogged tear duct unclogged!! YAY for no more goopy eye!  He scratched himself right by his eye at the same time his tear duct cleared up and I seriously wonder if he stretched the skin when he scratched himself and allowed the clog to flow free... probably just a coincidence but maybe not...

- HAS to have his fist to fall asleep no matter where or in what position he falls asleep in.

- Had a tummy time epiphany... "Oh hey!!  I can SEE like this!!" He still doesn't last a super long time on his tummy but does like looking at toys or books for a little while and is definitely getting stronger every time.  I mean just check out those arm rolls!

- Loves Monte!  Monte can get him to smile and laugh more than I can!

- He doesn't fall asleep on us very often anymore but when he does we soak it in!!

Christmas Morning

Santa Baby

- Concentrates very hard on whatever you put in front of him.  (even a cinnamon roll wrapper)

- I had to include this picture.  He was trying to chew on his fist and got his finger up his nose.  I'm not even sure he knew it was in there.

- First time all three boys "played" together!! Definitely gave me hope for the future when I can lay him down near them and they can keep him entertained.

- Met his great grandmother, Mimi for the first time.

- Met his second cousin for the first time.

- LOVES standing up now and gets so excited every time you put him on his feet!
- Heart melting smiles and giggles now!

- Can track you as you walk by now.  Tries to follow his brothers but they are often too quick for him to keep up with.

I love him so much!
