Just a Crazy Saturday Morning....

GUYS!! I need to share our morning yesterday!  For all you other parents, hopefully this will help to reassure you that you are not the only one this stuff happens to! For everyone else, here's just some brutal honesty about what really goes on sometimes that will hopefully provide a laugh!

So....

I had been eating some chex cereal in the living room the night before, I had some left from making puppy chow over Christmas and was owning a weak moment! Yesterday morning we were all being lazy and watching some tv and before I knew it, Monte had found the cereal, pulled the bag out, and was generously sharing with Kit and creating a nice pile on the couch!  Seriously?! At least it wasn't sugary cereal...

So I get that semi cleaned up and headed into the kitchen to make breakfast.  I got the oatmeal out, set it on the counter, then went to the bathroom.  I came back to find oatmeal ALL OVER THE FLOOR!!! And the boys both munching down on dry oatmeal!  I was planning on making oatmeal for all three of us but after this I barely had enough to feed both of them.

At least Monte owned up to making a mess!

So I get that mostly swept up, and get what oatmeal is left cooking, and go into the dining room to find that Monte has opened the wrapping paper tub and has all the tubes out and they are in the process of unrolling all of them.  I get frustrated and get all the wrapping paper back in the tub and head back into the kitchen to get the oatmeal ready.  TWO MINUTES later I walk back into the office to get the boys and discover this!!

They had knocked/pulled our small tree over and Monte was using scissors to cut off small branches.  How did I not hear the tree fall over?! I was ten feet away! I quickly got the lights unplugged in case he accidentally cut a wire instead of a branch.  This had all happened in like a 15 minute period!  At this point I just had to laugh!

Blaming Kit for this one! I have no idea who actually did it! Somewhere in the middle of this, I texted my mom and mother in law and demanded that they come get their grandchildren!  They both found my situation quite hilarious!

Since I'm just being real here, I just show yall everything, including how messy their room is!  After I got them fed and ya know trapped in chairs so they couldn't destroy anything else, I headed into Monte's room to change Kit.  This is what I walked into... A diaper road! At least Monte's mess was sorta organized... Kit's on the other hand was not.  All the stuff on the floor is their dirty clothes and clean socks and underwear that Kit had completely emptied out of the bins they belong in... I may need to do some reorganizing because this is not the first time he has done this...

So I undress Kit and put him on Monte's bed while I go into his closet to find him some clothes.  Out of the corner of my eye I see a naked little hiney streak past me heading toward the dining room!  He's kinda between sizes, 3s are too small but 4s are still a little big, so I guess as he slid off the bed, he wiggled out of his diaper!  I started to go after him but then thought, "nah it'll just take two seconds to find his clothes, surely nothing will happen in that time...." Famous last words right?!  Next I hear Monte yelling from the table, "Mama, Kit go poopoo!!" Seriously?! So fortunately he BARELY went a tiny bit on the wood floor but still! It was just the cherry on top of a string of unfortunate events sundae!!

Here is what I have learned from yesterday morning.... my children NEED THE OUTSIDE!! They apparently go crazy if they don't get good outside time!  It had been cold and kinda rainy off and on the couple days before and I had just not made the effort to get them outside.  I quickly righted my wrong, got them all bundled up, and kicked them outside!! I think they were as happy as I was!  Monte immediately wanted to ride his new "motorcycle" and Kit basically just followed along....

Monte also got to try out his new gloves from Annie and Grandad!

He was super excited about them!

So there ya have it! Our crazy Saturday morning!

Ice Adventures

So "adventure" is probably an exaggeration but to Monte it was and it was good for us all to get out of the house!  Wednesday morning we woke up to about 1/4 inch of ice covering everything.  The boys were about to drive me crazy so we all bundled up and headed outside for an ice walk before lunch and naps.  I was a little nervous about Kit being warm enough but between blankets, hats, and layered Norwegian hand me downs I think he was comfy cozy!

I was worried that he would fight the blankets and try to get his hands out but he didn't, just relaxed, peaked out over the blankets, and took it all in.

Monte was all about getting outside and eagerly let me bundle him all up!  Thankfully we have this thick heavy Carhartt coat!!  I think it was a hand me down from the Koonces! Thanks guys! Also, isn't he cute?!

Taking a selfie in 20 degree weather, with a toddler, baby, and stroller is kinda tricky but we did it!

Barely got Kit in this one!

All mittened up and ready to explore!

Discovering the ice!  All he wanted to do was eat it all!

Peaking out...

Iced barbed wire!

Prickly Pear!  Monte wanted to eat this too but I nixed that idea!

We shook the wire and shot ice everywhere and Monte thought it was hilarious!

Turkey cactus!

I found all these little ice droplets pretty cool looking!

I fought him for a few minutes then just gave up.  It was early for nap but he just looked so cozy I just let him fall asleep!

We weren't out for very long before Monte and I were cold and ready to go inside.  Monte wanted to ride on the way back but I was in the regular stroller so he had to figure out a way to make it work!

Kit was out cold by the time we got back and I had to unblanket him, take off his hat and jacket, and take off his outer layer of clothing all without waking him up....

Success!!!

Kit's One Year Photo Shoot, Take 2 and Family Pictures

So as some of you may know, Kit's one year photo shoot did not go well.  He cried and screamed the whole time! Penny was amazing and actually got several good photos, check them out here, but there were no smiley ones.  He is developing quite the silly personality sometimes and has the best grin and I wanted to capture that.  So when we did family pictures after Thanksgiving, I dressed him in the same outfit so that it would look like just one big photo shoot!  Kit's one year photo shoot take 2! And it worked!! Penny got so many happy ones!

I mean how cute is this little munchkin?!

They're pretty cute too!

So I am a little biased and think my boys are just the cutest things ever, and I'm also a little biased and think my sister is a pretty darn good photographer but in my defense this photo shoot was not all smiles the whole time.  There was a pretty cold breeze that was making the boys a little cold and there were several meltdowns.  But Penny still got great shots!  Plus she makes it fun!  We got some almond butter bread for Kit and that helped, and Monte had some too.  She did mention that she had to edit crumbs off their faces a few times....oops...

And look! Everyone is smiling!!

My sweet Kit Bo!!

I mean look at him! That dimple! That slightly mischievous grin! The flannel! Ahh I love him!

Guys! This is the Kit I wanted to remember! I love the serious ones she got during the first shoot but I also love this silly cheeky side of him too!

Kit LOVES Gunnar these days!  He has always been a little more of a Mama's boy than Monte ever was but now when Gunnar gets home from work, Kit becomes ecstatic!   He laughs and "runs" as well as he can to get to Gunnar as fast as he can! It doesn't matter how bad you feel or how hard your day was, you can't help but smile!

What it looks like, a sweet loving family... What it actually was... Monte getting in trouble... Keepin' it real over here!

I love Monte's zest for life! I hope he keeps that all of his days!

Heart melter! He loves his Daddy!

Happy first year of life Kit boy!  We love you and are so glad you joined our little family!

He loved going to get his Aunt Penny!

Sometimes we have fun together...

What boy doesn't love a good stick?! Penny said she wanted to edit a wizard's hat onto him! hehe

The longer we got into the shoot the more it warmed up and the happier the boys got!  By the end they were having a grand time!

Sweet slobbery Monte kisses!

Thanks Aunt Penny!!
