Introducing...

Monte James Sullenger!!!

Born April 15, 2015, 8:21 p.m. at 41 weeks

9 pounds 5 ounces

20 1/2 inches long

I'll post the birth story later (although just for the record I did NOT have a c-section...we've had quite a few people assume I did...Praise the Lord!!) but this post is dedicated solely to introducing our son!

Two weeks old today!

Weight: 10 lbs. 2 oz. Healthy and growing!

Has already outgrown several of his "newborn" clothes, but when your initial weight is over 9 pounds that's to be expected I suppose...

Poor guy seemed to be in a lot of pain the first couple days.  He would scream anytime you moved him.  We didn't let many people hold him at first because he would cry if you moved him.  Poor guy!  Kelly found a chiropractor that would come adjust him before the weekend and he was soo much better after that. He would actually stay asleep if you moved him.

He's pretty much the cutest thing ever!

After we got him home he wasn't that interested in nursing very often for a couple days.  He was happy and slept a lot though so I didn't worry about it too much.  The chiropractor told us that he might sleep a lot for a little while after the adjustment.  Then Monday between 5pm and 1am the LONGEST he went between feedings was 20 minutes.  I guess once he felt better and got hungry he decided it was time to catch up!  He just ate and ate and ate! haha Since then he has settled into much more of a routine, going 1-3 hours during the day and 4-5 hours at night.

Wore his camo outfit from Pickup (my dad) for his "going home" outfit!

First two outings he's been on so far have been fishing, which is strange because we rarely go fishing and now we've gone twice in two weeks, well Gunnar has gone twice in two weeks, Monte and I were just along as a cheering squad!

First bath: He HATED it, but we gave him another one a couple days later and he seemed to like it so I guess the jury is still out on his true feelings towards baths.

Has been sleeping swaddled on his back beside our bed.  He slept in our bed the first week but has been beside me in his Rock 'n' Play the last week.  I think I'm going to switch him into the pack 'n' play though.

I took this...Adorable right?!

...and...Gunnar took this....Silly Daddy!

Had his first photo shoot with Aunt Penny on Thursday.  I can't wait to see the pics!

First walk!

We love him so much!  He's pretty much the best thing ever!

Gunnar and I are so grateful for everyone who has brought meals, sent texts or phone calls, given gifts, and been supportive.  Our family has been great helping with meals and grocery shopping.  We have such a great support system and are so thankful for the body being the body and loving on us as we embark on the adventure of parenthood.  We love our little man so much and are so thankful to be a family of three now.

And if I may brag on Gunnar a moment, he has been AMAZING, both with Monte and with me.  Through pregnancy, labor, birth, and having a new son he has been my rock and strength!  I'm so grateful to have two such great men in my life now!

Last Pregnancy Post

Here's the last pregnancy post before I post the first BABY post!

I really grew a lot the last few weeks! Was hungry all the time!

Final Weight Gain: - 40 lbs! DANG! haha I started at 132 lbs. and my last official weight was 172.2 lbs. It just seems like it was all baby.

Symptoms: Legs cramps, pretty much completely impossible to do anything but doze the last few weeks, hungry all the time, got pretty emotional and anti-people the last week or so... sorry everyone haha

Name: We'll let ya know...

Movements: Moves ALL the time! Week 38-40 he started moving around LIKE CRAZY!  I think he was trying to push his way out or just get more room.  The last week he slowed a little back down to normal, I guess he gave up on getting more room.

Position: He stayed LOA all the way to the end.

Cravings: I never really had any craving or aversions, after the first trimester anyway where ANY thing and EVERY thing was an aversion, the whole pregnancy.

Final belly pic. 41 weeks! In between contractions!

And now we have the most perfect baby boy!! I can't wait to show him off!

Cutting Calves

A couple Sundays ago Sid needed to cut a few calves, and just to clarify if any of you don't know "cutting" calves translates to "castrate." I went along for the ride and to take a few pictures.  It was a beautiful day after all those days of rain and ice so it was wonderful to be out there, until the bumpy roads about did me in.

Their system usually involves Ken roping them, Gunnar flanking the calf then Reb grabbing the back legs while Sid cuts and gives them a shot.

This one was a rounder! And I think he was the smallest one...typical huh?!

I kinda love this picture.  If it was in black in white you wouldn't be able to tell if it was taken yesterday or 50 years ago!

Letting the calf up.

Men being manly! Gunnar's Uncle William was visiting too so he got to join in the fun.

Flanking the calf

Got him!

Calf #3!

He caught me!I kinda have a crush on him!
