Stone Wedding

One of "the Roommates" and our best friend got married last weekend!  The wedding was in the north Houston area and because of all the flooding the week before we weren't sure if we were going to get to go or if we did we might have to rent a boat to get there! Fortunately the weather was BEAUTIFUL for the wedding and we were so glad we got to attend!

Monte handled the trip like a champ! 6-7 hours in the car seat two days in a row is a lot for a little guy! or for a pregnant girl!

When taking a picture with a baby you can either get, a smile....

or looking, but not both! Thanks to Madison for just snapping away so we did get a few decent ones :)

Monte looked SO grown up!  Such a handsome little boy!  I love it!

He loves me! ;)

His gut is so big his shirt just would not stay tucked in... Oh well! At least he's healthy!

So Hudson was one of Gunnar's roommates and best friends in college.  Rachel, we met at the wedding! We have heard great things about her though and can't wait to get to know her! Oh and her dress.... On Point!!!

John trying to keep Monte happy on the dance floor!  Poor guy was so tired!

Sparklers!

We haven't been altogether with all roommates in a couple years! We also got to meet everyone's significant others, including the bride! ;) So that was fun! It was so good to see everyone and enjoy each other!

And let's be real, nothing much has changed...

Gotta have a sparkler selfie!

On the way home we stopped in C-Stat to get Gunnar and maybe Monte some new boots, and to indugle in some College Station cuisine and have lunch with Joe Todd and Amber at Laynes.

The boots were all way to big!  You know those videos where people put shoes on pets and they walk funny by taking really high steps? That was so Monte!

On the way home we decided to go a different route than normal, through Georgetown, Burnet, Llano and so on.  The wildflowers between Burnett and Llano...WOW!! Just blankets of Indian Blankets!!  We were so glad we went that way. By the time we made it to Llano, Monte was pretty much car seated out and let's be real, I wasn't so in love with my seat by this point either, so we decided to take a little detour and stop at the river.  He LOVED it!! I mean he is a fish at heart ;)

He liked throwing rocks!

He really liked the rapids and wanted Gunnar to LET HIM GO!  haha Not yet buddy!

It was a great little break for all of us!

Congratulations Hudson and Rachel!!

The Vehicle

The night Jax was born we were all sitting in the hallway in the hospital at dark:thirty while they were getting Sara and Jax transferred into her permanent room.  Poor Monte was on his last leg and was to the point where he was wired goofy.  There was a tall desk type chair in the hallway he started playing with.  The bottom was a big round silver ring and he started playing with it like a steering wheel.  We all laughed and Dad said he was going to get that boy a steering wheel for his birthday! He said he knew of an old steering wheel that he could mount to a board with some kind of ball bearing so we could mount it to the wall and Monte could have his very own steering wheel to play with whenever he wanted to. Well fast forward a couple week and Dad shows up on Monte's birthday with this!

Just SLIGHTLY more than a steering wheel and board!  When I asked him about it he said. "Well once I got started I couldn't stop!  I remembered that I had that old seat off a such and such, then I found that handle that could be a gear shift, and then I remembered that I had that big piece of metal, then I went and looked for handle to push it...etc. etc. etc..."

"Oh hey! There's my hand! How'd that get there?"

Monte LOVES it!!! He beelines for it the second he is allowed outside! He thinks it's funny when you push it on the cliche and it's bumpy!

The face of approval!

Monte likes being pushed in it... (don't ya love my outfit?! ;)

playing with it on the ground, and...

And he QUICKLY figured out how to climb into it himself and stand in the seat!

So we're not really sure what to call it, a car?, a vehicle?, a push toy? I can see years of fun and imagination coming with this birthday present!  It can be a police car, a fire truck, a bulldozer, a big rig, a boat, a ship, a race car, well... you get the point!

Thanks Pick-up!!  Sometimes it pays to have a super creative, pack rat father! ;)

One Year Old

So I'm late posting this but this time it's not my fault.  That storm we had Saturday knocked out internet in our area and it just came back on today.  This is my last monthly post for Monte! How is that possible?! My baby boy is ONE! I'm honestly not sad, I think partly because I'm pregnant and I know I have a new baby coming.  Plus I have a tiny baby nephew to love on right now! Also, Monte is in such an exploratory stage right now.  Watching him discover the world opens my eyes to the wonder and joy of living.

- Weight:  23.5 pounds
- Height:
- Walks full time now, still a little wobbly but getting quicker and quicker!

- Figured out how to clap and thinks it's oh so funny!  (he was doing it a lot better earlier but by the time I had started filming he was about done)

- Sleeping through the night finally! Yay! I finally just cold turkeyed it and said "you're done buddy! No more nursing at night!" It took him one night of crying it out to start sleeping through the night! He goes down around 7:30, wakes up around 5 to eat then goes back down til about7:30 - 8:00.  And you may ask, "well why didn't you do that sooner?" I HAVE!! and it didn't work! After nights and nights of consistently trying so I guess he was just finally ready!

- Has a new cousin!!! Yay! He is slowly seeming to realize that Jax is something alive and he always wants to poke him... Sorry Jax!

- Says, "mama"....we think....he's not consistent haha

- Eats like a little pig!  Loves sweet potatoes, cooked broccoli, ground meat, bananas, prunes, raisins, cooked veggies of any kind, oranges, pears, and scrambled eggs.

- Still nursing a few times a day but not much.  My goal was to make it a year so yay!  I do try to always offer a sippy cup or food first and if those don't work then I'll let him nurse. He mainly only nurses before naps and before bed.

- Has turned into a little monkey!  He loves climbing up on stuff but doesn't always know how to get down and cries. We mainly let him just figure it out on his own and then when he manages to get down he gets so proud of himself!

- Still LOVES being outside!
- LOVES steering wheels!

- Still usually takes two naps but is definitely transitioning into one long one.
- Loves books! (reading and eating)
- Still loves to open and close drawers, cabinets, and doors!
- 8 teeth...I think we're working on a couple more too.
- LOVES water!! Baths, puddles, the hose, a glass, it doesn't matter, if it's water he's going to figure out how to get in it!

- Enjoys eating dirt!

- Is such a silly little boy!  Has the best giggle and grin!

- Is not normally a snuggler but every once in a while he surprises us.

- Is excited to become a big brother soon!  (haha yeah he has no clue!)

Happy Birthday Son!  We love you so much! Here's to another wonderful year of life!  Thanks for coming into our lives and blessing us beyond measure!  You are an awesome gift from God!

Introducing...

Our nephew, Jaxson Walker Terral!  We think he's pretty perfect!!

He was born Monday, April 4 at 8:22 pm weighing in at 8 pounds 11 ounces and 21 inches long!  Sara and I decided it's us! We're the big babiers!  Apparently it doesn't matter what size men we marry we're both going to give birth to toddlers! ;)

All day Monday their doula kept me up to date with her progress and we were so happy to hear he was here safe and sound!  I cried when Gunnar came into where I was feeding Monte and told me Jax was here!  I am just so happy for them!

We rushed to the hospital and got to meet him when he was just a few minutes old!!  Sara came through like a champ and was on her feet unassisted before they even moved her out of the recovery room!  I was impressed!

The new parents!

Monte doesn't seem to get it really but he thinks Jax is funny and wants to poke him, a general sign of approval! I can't wait to watch them grow up together!

Great Grandfather, Papa, our dad, Pick-up, and Jax

Not even 24 hours old and he was holding up his head!  Which I might add is not small!  Poor Sara!

An admiring Granmolly!

Yay for being an Aunt!! He's so perfect.  I didn't get to see him yesterday and seriously missed him!  He's just so squishy and soft!

With Uncle Guns!

I obviously stole this picture but look at those cheeks! I'm a sucker for baby cheeks anyway!

Sara sent me this picture of him snuggled in the blanket I made him... so sweet!

He looks slightly like his daddy!

Welcome to the world Baby Jax!  We can't wait to get to know you!  You are a much anticipated and prayed for blessing!
