Sullenger Christmas

We celebrated Christmas Eve at the Sullengers.  We grilled, hung out outside on the porch, played games, and watched a little football... Ya know, because Christmas was in the summertime this year and all! (minus the football) Steak, corn, grilled, asparagus, and baked potatoes! Yum! I have to admit that I didn't miss the turkey and dressing one bit!  Gunnar had to work but he was able to get off early and spend most of the day with us.

We played Wahoo a couple of time both of which I lost soundly!  Ann and Reb won MUCH to Gunnar's chargin, especially Reb because Gunnar was gunning for him (see what I did there?!) the whole game!

Gunnar's parents got Monte a giant stuffed horse! Poor guy was afraid of it although we did wait to start opening gifts til close to bedtime so he was tired.  The next morning he loved it!  I felt bad but he finally wanted to touch it if he was sitting in my lap and then thought it was hilarious if I would hit it in the nose!  He's so funny! He loves real animals! The first time I held him up to a real horse he got excited and wanted to hit it, Gunnar's mule deer didn't bother him, he loves dogs and cats, but stuffed horses and stuffed deer mounts, now those are something to be concerned about apparently!

Gift opening was super fun as always!

Monte got an awesome wooden push toy that he immediately showed his approval of by eating!

8 Months old

Monte James is 8 months old and one of the biggest things to note is that is his short life he has lived in three houses and moved twice!! Yousers!! Poor guy! BUT hopefully we are staying put for a while, which is what we thought the last time too... that is a topic for another blog post!

So for the moment we do not have internet at our new house so I'm currently doing this at our old house without my camera so this post will have to be updated later...

- Loves walks!

- First Thanksgiving!

-Has greatly increased his steadiness when standing and pulling up. While "helping" me with laundry however he got a pretty good bump! Thankfully that only happens like once a week now instead of three times a day!

- He and the kitty have a a new agreement... They play on separate sides of the glass!

- High centered! haha

- He crawls everywhere and pulls up on everything!

- Went Christmas Tree shopping for the first time!

- Loves his Aunt Sara!
- He definitely knows people now! It's pretty cool how he knows our families!

- Has figured out that he can control is something makes noise therefore his new favorite toys are bells and mint containers!

-His second favorite toy right now is my nightstand! He opens and closes the doors and drawers. pulls stuff out and puts stuff back in.

- Rode in the basket for the first time! He loved it!

- Teeth!! He has 3 possibly 4, when it rains it pours!

-Likes being right in the middle of everyone but plays alone well.

- LOVES his Daddy!! He gives Gunnar about 1.2 seconds when he walks in the door to pick him up before he starts crying.  It's both adorable and pathetic! haha
- Still loves peek-a-boo

Christmas at Old Fort Concho

We actually remembered to make it Christmas at Old Fort Concho this year! Gunnar didn't get home early enough for us to get to spend too much time there but it was still fun.  Penny was in town and met us there!

We didn't want to mess with a stroller so Gunnar wore our little batman baby! Monte just snuggled up and smiled a lot.  Too adorable!

We (i.e. Gunnar) love fair food! Getting some lovin' while waiting in line for a turkey leg!

Aunt Penny is too funny!

Sun setting over the fort. One of the buildings we went into still has its original 1872 wood floor from pecan trees down on the river!

Every cowboy needs a good hat!  We found a hat vendor and had to splurge on a black hat like Daddy and Pickup's!!  (that is the price tag sticker by the way, which we removed) I mean it was kinda a splurge and how much will he actually wear that thing but I mean we how could we not get it?!

Watching a cowboy make musket balls.

I sure love my guys!! It was great to spend a little time together celebrating something Christmasy!

Merry Christmas everyone!

A Baby Photo Shoot

So I wanted to wait to post these until I had mailed them to several family members, which I did several weeks ago and am just now posting, oops! But here is Monte's 6 month photo shoot courtesy of the wonderfully talented Penny Criner, or Aunt Penny to Monte ;)

This chair was my Dad's when he was little and the seat was put in by his grandfather, Monte's Great Great Grandfather.

This one is considered an "outtake" but how could you not include it?!

So serious... He really is very studious sometimes!

Penny managed to catch this shot RIGHT before the blocks were scattered!

I mean, would ya just look at all those rolls!

Might be my favorite shot!

Thanks to Penny for all the pictures!!
