- Size 4 diapers
- Weight 30 lbs.
- Loves experimenting with new methods of movement i.e. skipping, jumping, walking backwards, etc. He actually got both feet off the ground yesterday for the first time! hehe
- Scrunches his nose when he says words with an "ee" sound in them, "B," "Annie," "meat," etc. This is Aunt Sara's favorite thing he does!
- Would LIVE outside if we let him, which we do most of the time!
- - LOVES Kit, calls him "Dit."
- Loves to read books, both by himself and with us. He also loves to chew on books...arrhhh, we're working on it. He also loves to "read" Texas Wildlife or Western Horseman magazines and find the deer, dogs, windmills, and cows.
- Loves stars and now the moon.
- Is always looking for and finding planes in the sky when he's outside.
- Loves to eat or drink things off the floor or ground. Gunnar caught him laying on the carport floor eating cat food off the ground the other day. He also loves to lay on his tummy and drink pooled water off the porch or carport. We're working on learning that this is not always a good idea...
- Seems to have a strong mechanical bent. He's always trying to figure out how things work, fit together or come apart, or cause and effect. He can be studious at times. Like right now, he's sitting behind me with a few Easter eggs and a few coins and it filling the eggs with the coins, closing and opening the eggs, fitting the eggs inside each other etc. Oh now he's laying out all his coins just right on one of his trucks to give them a ride.
- Will finally keep his cap on his head when he's outside now. Also, this is a classic Monte look. The "I know I'm cute when I grin and just look at you with my eyes without turning my head!"
- LOVES tractors right now!
- Always gets excited to go on walks, both when he's actually getting to walk or if he's riding in a stroller.
- Enjoys coloring with markers and chalk. Not so much crayons or colored pencils, I think you have to press down too hard for him to understand well yet.
- Still takes a hour and a half to two hour afternoon nap. We switched his crib rail to a bed rail a month or so back and he has enjoyed having access to his bed whenever he wants.
- Popped his last regular tooth through just last week. Party party!!
- LOVES animals!! We have kitties right now and he climbs into the kennel with them and gives them rides in his dump truck. Being gentle is still a work in progress.
- Can finally say "granmolly" now, sorta... hehe He says all his other family members pretty well!
- Is always riding his "bike," dump truck, or vehicle.
- Loves phones of any kind or anything he thinks might be a phone like Gunnar's old broken ipod, a calculator, or currently, our stud finder.
- Loves Ditamaceous Earth, calls it "powder."
- Loves looking at our photo books and pointing out people he knows!
- LOVES water, the hose, the trough, puddles, the bath, dish water!
- Is fascinated by tools, both power and regular!
- Loves going with Gunnar in the truck to check waters or feed. He mimics Gunnar and pretends to point and count the cows.
- LOVES riding the four wheeler!
- Has taken off verbally. He was kinda a late bloomer in the talking department but seems to be saying new things every minute now and is actually forming sentences without being prompted. The more words he strings together the less clear the pronunciation is of each word.
- Lays down in strange places.
- Gets these little obsessions. This might be one of my favorite things about Monte. He has his "things" as we call it. One week, it's a baby washcloth or "rag" as he calls it, the next week it's the cars from his truck, the next day it's something else. Lately it's been his tractor. He always seems to have one or two things that he never goes anywhere without out! This picture is a good example of this. He carried those q-tips around for two days!
Here's another example! He loves laying "rags" out flat onto things including his brother. I'm not sure what he loves about them so much but rags has been his "thing" several different times!
- Has already learned a few letters, his favorite of which is "B."
- Is particular about his blankets and always wants to have one or several when he goes to sleep and has to arrange them just so. He also always wants a blanket when we rock and is very particular about how it is covering him.
- Sleeps crazy!! Seriously the boy is all over the place and sleeps in the funniest positions! I think that rail is still very necessary!
- Likes climbing and is actually very smart about it for a two year old!
Monte is a vivacious, curious, sweet, and energetic two year old! As well as having a flare for the dramatics! Melt downs are a regular occurrence around our house but he is getting much better about not losing it when he doesn't get his way. He is becoming such a polite young boy, seriously one of the cutest things ever is when he flashes his little grin and says, "nank you Momma." We often wonder how we ever thought our lives were complete without our Monte James!
