Kit Lawson - 11 months

Kit Lawson is 11 months old, as in only ONE month away from being a year old!!! That is just NOT ok! I need a little baby again, except I so don't need another baby yet!  I'll settle for a little baby niece or nephew instead.  Honestly this last month has been hard.  Those teeth I said were coming in in his ten month post, JUST came in!  Well one is 3/4s broken through the skin probably.  Why do my children teeth so hard?  Plus he has been going through a developmental leap and when Kit leaps, he leaps HARD!  He really has been so fussy all the time lately which has been so difficult to try to know how to help him!  Poor guy! He just really has been unhappy most of the time for about a month.  Thankfully he seems to be coming out of it and has returned to being my happy, calm baby most of the time now.  It feels like we have the real Kit back!  But he is making developmental progress all over the place now so that's fun!  Monte didn't really ever get fussy or seem to go through leaps like that so this is new territory for me.  Jax had a hard time going through leaps too so Sara has been very helpful and encouraging these last few weeks.

- Weight
- Clothes - 9-12 months
- Nicknames - Kit Boy, Mr Kit, Dit (what Monte calls him), Bubba, I actually call him Kit Lawson quite often, Kit Bo
- Gets super silly sometimes because he knows we think it's funny!

- Consistently says "Mama" and "uh ho."  He will say if prompted "night night," "Daddy," and "all done." We tried to teach him the sign for "all done" but he just says it instead! haha
- Has started to enjoy reading, both with us and on his own.  I think he still enjoys chewing on books over reading them but at least we're moving in the right direction.

- Had his first scratched eyeball.  It was SOOO sad!  He cried so hard no matter what we tried.  We tried putting a patch on it, but that just made him sooooo much more angry!  We tried a cold rag but he didn't like that either.  We finally tried breast milk because I knew it would at least help it to heal quickly but apparently it also acted as a pain reliever and he stopped rubbing it and crying for a while.  Fortunately it happened late in the afternoon so bedtime came quickly. The next morning his eye was a little red but he never rubbed it again or seemed to be in any discomfort. By that evening you couldn't tell anything had ever been wrong at all.  We're not sure what happened.  He and Monte were playing by the laundry room window and not 20 seconds after I left the room I heard Kit scream crying!  I ran back in and Monte said "bump eye, bump eye."  I don't know if Monte poked him in the eye (which is entirely possible) or he fell and hit the windowsill somehow, there was no other bumps or scrapes on him anywhere so I suspect Monte but who knows!  This picture doesn't do it any kind of justice!  This was after we tried the breast milk and he finally calmed down somewhat.

- Loves showers!  I think it's the echo sound they provide when he yells.  We were at Sara's the other day and he kept disappearing and we'd find him in their new shower!

- He gets SOO excited when he sees Gunnar now.  He's always been more of a mama's boy than Monte was, but he sure gets happy when Daddy gets home now.
- Has started rolling over in his sleep.  I'm not sure why I find this to be the most adorable thing ever, but I do!

- Loves outside!
- LOVES going to the road!! And he's so fast!! And once he decides that's where he wants to be, nothing, no matter how many times you bring him back to the porch, will deter him from heading straight back to the road! (and by "road" I mean the dirt road beside our house that only we drive on, we would never let him go onto an actual road)

- He growls at our dogs like he's trying to talk to them!
- Tried cheese for the first time and loved it!  I mean cheese is yummy!

- Consistently eats three meals a day, plus a snack or two sometimes.
- FINALLY got upgraded to a real crib!  It took him a couple naps to relearn how to put himself to sleep because it was like a new toy at first!

- Loves playing peek-a-boo lately.  He even initiates it!

- Loves watermelon!
- Walks have been our saving grace lately!  Teething is no fun!

- He rolls his tongue sooo much!  And if you do it, he tries to mimic you, like if you do it loudly so does he, or if you do it in a deep tone so does he.  Anyone know how to teach a baby Spanish? Cause he'll have the rolling rs down in no time!

- Gunnar started this game with Monte when he was a baby where they would touch foreheads and say, "Noggin'" Now Kit does it too.  He and Monte even do it!
- Has discovered the "vehicle" lately and, just like his brother, LOVES the steering wheel!

- Gunnar bounces him often while he's holding him and the second he stops Kits starts bouncing on his own as if he's saying, "Daddy! Don't stop!"
- Loves our bed!
-Has developed a new love for the kitties!  I can see why he likes them but not sure why they like him!  Our male cat (none of our cats have names, we should work on that!) loves Kit!  I mean this cat voluntarily came up to Kit, ear pulling and all!

- I used my phone to check if he was asleep on the way to town the other day (Gunnar was driving), and he flashed the cutest grin when he saw himself on the screen!

- Is WALKING!!
- Still loves playing with the push toy even though he can walk.  He actually loves pushing all kinds of things!  Today he was pushing a book back and forth across the dining room floor. He often pushes Monte's chair or the highchair all over the dining room!

-Has turned into quite the climber.

- Throws stuff all day everyday!!

- Finally figured out how to work a straw! Smoothies here we come!

- This video speaks for itself...

 - Has a new happy place!  The new couch!  Seriously, if he's fussy the couch almost always makes him, not just happy, but SUPER happy!  He crawls back and forth from end to end over and over again, irregardless of how many people's laps he has to crawl over in the process! And then today, he threw the phone off the couch and quicker than I could react, successfully turned around backwards and slid safely off the couch to get it all on his own!

 - Has definitely hit the phase of wanting to do anything and everything Monte is doing.  Monte both loves and hates this!  One of his main goals in life right now is, "No Dit reach it!" as he tries to put a toy or item somewhere Kit can't get to it, which these days, is getting harder and harder to accomplish!

Kit Boy we love you!  We're so glad you joined our family 11 months ago!!
