Thursday night was our annual Concho Valley Gymnastics Team Banquet. All the girls get dressed up and we all meet at a restaurant and we hand out certificates and recognize accomplishments from the year of competition. It's really fun for the girls as they get to see their coaches in something other than a tshirt and shorts and we get to see them in something besides brightly colored leotards, spandex, and sweaty ponytails. The booster club always gives all the coaches a gift and they are very generous. We really do have awesome parents for the most part :)
I didn't think about the fact that this will be my last banquet. I'm hoping to move to College Station when Gunnar heads back to school. (we're just kinda over this whole long distance thing) Anyway after we handed out all the certificates and announced our CVG Most Valuable Gymnast, Todd (my boss for those of you who don't know) announced to everyone that it would be my last banquet and that they had had a plaque type thing made as a gift. All the girls moaned and all the parents and everyone started clapping and saying things like "we'll miss you". I started tearing up. I hadn't even really thought about it and so it was really unexpected and I was totally blessed. It's nice to feel loved and appreciated. In two weeks I will have been working there 5 years. I started two weeks before I graduated High School. Anyway they presented me with my collage and all the girls signed the matte. I will always cherish my time there.
This is me with the optional (highest level in our gym) girls. Their the ones I've coached the longest out of the whole group. I remember when they only came up to my waist and I was teaching them how to do a handstand on the beam. Now I'm teaching them to do back flips and back handsprings on the beam! Man!
The current team coaches and no we never look like this! haha

All in all it was a very bittersweet night. I would like to say though that I have had a great boss and I am so thankful for him. He is a great man and I am proud to have worked for him. Angela has been a great "second boss" as well and I am so glad to have worked with her!! I really have worked and currently work with some awesome people over the years! God has really blessed me in my job and I am grateful for the last 5 years!!
