Cold Front Coming

Gunnar had to feed everything Tuesday but with the cold front coming in, he needed to make sure everyone had hay too so me and the boys jumped in the other truck and helped him get it knocked out in time for lunch so that we could go hunting that afternoon.  They like to make sure all the cattle have hay before a cold front, especially a cold front with rain or snow.  It helps all the cattle stay warm and healthy. 

Kit had on a lot of layers and didn't see phased by the cold.  He loves watching the bulls and making a "mooo" or “buuuuu” ish sound.  Not sure if he’s saying “moo” or “bull” but either way he loves watching them!

Monte LOVES the skid steer and Gunnar lets him "help" load hay. 

Monte wore this batman hat so often at football games when he was little so I love seeing Kit in it too! Plus I HATE my ears being cold so it makes me feel so much better knowing their ears are warm!

Using the skid steer, Gunnar loads hay onto the hay trailer then takes it to various pastures to unload.  I drove the hay trailer and he drove the feed wagon and we got everyone fed and hayed! 

We introduced Monte to jumping hay bales!  An experience any kid must have....and any adult come to think about it....

He was a fan although my boots were so slippery I thought I might fall off before Monte did!

Counting the cattle is always necessary.  If one or more is missing then we would need to investigate if one got onto another pasture or is off by itself sick or something... Sometimes counting is easier said than done! Or finding them all is sometimes like a treasure hunt! haha

Fortunately everyone was where they belonged Tuesday!

So come on snow and rain and cold!  Everyone is fed and warm! 

Christmas Tree Hunting

Because I have boys, I'm not sure decorating the tree will mean as much to them as it did to us growing up BUT so far we have decided that going to GET the tree is definitely becoming a great and fun, family tradition! Monte took it all very seriously this year and seemed to know what a Christmas tree was... maybe...

He was excited when they got to ride in the "basket" as he called it. 

Kit seemed to enjoy the ride too although he seemed to be just taking it all in.

He was a pine cone fan!

Monte LOVED pulled the wagon!  Like took it so seriously and did NOT want any help!

 Kit is finally a strong enough walker that he enjoys being down on semi rough ground.  He enjoyed running around and finding pine cones and sticks

 

So we're not very good at selfies.... Kit was just not impressed with our attempts to get him to look at the phone while also looking happy!

Christmas! 

 

After finally finding the perfect tree, Monte wanted to pull Kit over to cut it down.  Worked for me cause it meant I didn't have to carry him!

Monte wanted to pull the tree and would ask you to, "stop please!" if you tried to help him.  He pulled it all the way from the field back to the barn.  I think Gunnar helped him over a few rough spots but other than that he made it by himself! He also took a three hour nap that afternoon!

Kit loved the goats! 

They were pretty busy with school tours so we took our time looking around the gift shop and at the other trees....we may have gone home with two trees... it's what all the cool kids are doing these days! ;) Kit still loves peek a boo games and had fun playing with Daddy in the wreath shop!

Monte was fascinated with this tunnel, especially after Kit got to get up to see it first and still if you ask him what his favorite part of the day was, he'll say, "tree go in tunnel!" He climbed up onto it while our backs were turned and was very proud of himself as you can tell!

We always get a new family ornament and this year we let both boys "pick" an ornament with a little assistance from us and Monte picked the least cool, most boring ornament in the whole place but that was the one he wanted so that's the one we bought!  I mean the point was to let him pick and that's what he picked! It'll be a funny story later! 

I also decided to bite the bullet and paint our living room the same day we bought the trees.... I just know I'll enjoy decorating so much more with a freshly painted living room so yeah... I'll let you know later if that was a great decision or if our trees just end up staying out in the carport until January when we finally throw them away... Wish me luck!

Thanksgiving

We had a bit of an unconventional Thanksgiving this year....and loved it! We spent the day out a what we call "Grierson." It was the boys first time there and they were fans!  We helped set up camp for the guys to hunt and camp the next couple days while Reb hunted Mule Deer.  So I don't know about everyone but I think a baby (Kit is ABSOLUTELY STILL a baby!!) in camo overalls is just about the best thing ever!

He loved Grandad's cot and kept wanting to drum on it!

Monte got Grandad to take him off somewhere pretty much as soon as we got there! 

Both boys thought the tent was pretty funny too and had a lot of fun going in and out and in and out! "Peek a boo Annie!"

Coming back from their adventure!

I'm telling you, these overalls are my new favorite baby outfit!

We went for a walk/hike and Kit, thankfully, fell asleep on Daddy.  It was his first time to ride on someone's back and he conked right out!  He was kinda in a weird nap phase and hadn't fallen asleep on the whole hour and a half drive out there... We were able to keep him out of the sun so he didn't get sunburned.  I'm really glad I thought to grab that hat!

Monte was such the little adventurer!  Running around ahead of everyone, looking at bugs, and the sky, and sticks and whatever else caught his eye! He's so interested in the little details of things!  Walking with Annie and Grandad was high on his list too!

After we got back to camp, we had turkey sandwiches, it WAS Thanksgiving after all!   Monte loved his new little table and chair.  Both boys played in the fire pit for a long time and got filthy!  I'll have to get pictures from Ann and post them later! Kit sometimes gets mad when he tries walking on rough ground so I was a little apprehensive about how he would be down at camp!  He LOVED it!  Pulling grass, throwing rocks, throwing his food on the ground and picking it back up to eat, moving everyone's water bottles.  He was funny!

After lunch we went and set up game cameras at the trough for the guys to look at later.  Monte and Kit stayed at the truck and played a lot.  It had gotten pretty warm by then and it was "supposed" to "just take a minute..." Yeah everyone knows how that goes!

We spent the night at Ann and Sid's then had a family photo shoot with Penny the next morning before heading to my parents for my family's Thanksgiving.  I had hair sprayed Monte's hair for the shoot so when he woke up from his nap his hair was CRAZY!!  And it stayed like that until I finally wet it and combed it again for dinner.  

 

I had made Penny and Johnathon a little engagement gift so we were able to give it to them that day.

Everyone needs a cheap plastic and fabric bouquet and boutonniere right?!

The boys love the trampoline and always ask to go jump.  I think Mom is in the market for one of those net things but for now an adoring grandparent usually goes to jump and play with them!

Reading before nap time!  Monte is very possessive of his "Granmolly" and wanted to read with her alone!  I told him that he could go to sleep without reading or read with Jax and he decided that maybe he wanted to read after all.   They were so cute reading all together!

Papa introduced Kit to the light switch and became the favorite person of the day!  

Later I was holding Kit a few feet from the door and he kept fussing and leaning over and I couldn't figure out what was wrong.  Papa looks up and tells me "he wants the light switch!" So I stepped over a couple steps and Kit was as happy as a lark!  He couldn't quite figure out how to turn them on but liked turning them off over and over again!

Love this one!

 We had a great Thanksgiving meal (I think Gunnar ate at least SIX of Gran's deviled eggs!), ate a lot of pie and had a rousing hilarious game of pictionary!  Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
