Steele Samuel is eight months old. Big eyed, big grinned, and big rolled!
Size 4 diapers - he needed to go into size 4 a long time ago but I had a bunch of threes so I just kept stuffing him in. Pretty much had a blow out every time though...
Clothes - anywhere from 6 months to 12 months. Just depends on the item. Really he's in very few 6 month items, I just haven't finished getting them all out of his closet.
Has seemed to like every type of food we've given him so far. He loves broccoli! He was teething when I took this picture and I think the cold nubby texture probably felt good on his gums. He does love cooked broccoli to actually eat though.
LOVES sweet potatoes! it's impressive how many he can eat and how quickly he shovels them into his mouth.
Had his first watermelon... and second, and third, and fourth, and.....etc. LOVES it!
Went "swimming" for the first time. In all honestly I just stuck him in for a few seconds to wash all the watermelon stickiness off but he liked splashing around, with me holding him the whole time of course, and the boys thought it was just the best thing ever!!
Has hit the "Tasmanian devil" phase of crawling where they just leave a destructive path everywhere they go! Discovered the dishwasher, anything that is possibly within his reach, clean clothes sitting in the laundry basket, the toilet paper, etc!!
Wore a backwards cap for the first time and is just about the cutest thing I have ever seen!
If whoever is holding him is wearing a hat, it becomes his life goal to eat it!
Met Grandad's cows.... "whoa"
Learned to take country truck naps. So sweet! and sweaty....and heavy!
My cousin gave me this little outfit with Monte and both other boys wore it. It was getting too small for him already when I pulled it out but I was determined to stuff him into it at least once! Perfect for Mother's Day and finally getting to see family again!
Got to ride in a tractor with Daddy!
I won't include a picture because it was "below the belt" so to speak but he got attacked by a June Bug! He had been up from a nap and out on the porch for literally less than five minutes and just got super fussy. I checked if he was dirty, tried to nurse him, tried to hold him, took him inside, nothing worked he was just clearly agitated but nothing was helping. Finally Gunnar decided to change his diaper even though he wasn't dirty to see if that would help. As soon as he took his diaper off I heard him say "Oh is that what was wrong?! You had a june bug chewing on you!" Somehow a june bug had gotten into the groin area of his diaper, got stuck and was trying to scratch and chew his way out! We felt so bad and still have no idea how it got in there so quickly! A little wound treatment and new diaper and the boy was a new man! It left quite the raw irritated scab, about as big as my thumb! I can't imagine how that felt!
Loves the cats and always wants to crawl over them and pull their hair...and the big ones usually just lie there and let him... cats are weird!
This little pool proved wonderfully useful on a few 100+ degree days. I set it where it was in the shade of the trees and filled it with just an inch or two of water and he LOVED it!! I just sat in a chair right there beside him and the boys were jumping on the trampoline with the sprinkler right beside us so he had plenty of entertainment and splashed around. He seemed to be fascinated by the fact that he could pull up on one side then sit down and crawl to another side and pull up again. He did it over and over again!
Nothing like a scrap piece of new pipe as a great chew toy!
He's in that phase where they seem to get a new bump or bruise almost daily. Pulling up on everything, trying to climb, tipping over, pulling stuff down. He tipped over on the porch and somehow busted his eyelid. I saw him tip over and still have no idea how he hit that part of his eye. Looked like he had been in a boxing match. Thankfully everything has been minor baby bumps and have healed quickly!
Got to play at the low water crossing. He loved the water but just mainly attempted to eat all the moss...babies!
He is standing a lot now. He also likes to let go then lunge forward fully believing that you're going to catch him. Every time he stands alone for a long time, 10-15 seconds and one of the boys happen to see it they get sooo excited and proud of him.
Just chillin' with Uncle Reb.
Got to meet Grandad and Annie's "pig" for the first time!
Gunnar took this picture and really liked it. Steele loves these vines and always wants to get them. We love our porch so much but it is not so great for a crawling baby. He can clearly fit through all the rails so you have to watch him constantly. But he loves it!
At only seven months old he had already figured out that his brothers' room is a special place that he should take advantage of when they are not around!
Started teething on Mother's Day, gums got all red and swollen, got little nubbie white blistery things on them, and still nothing has broken through. It seems like they just quit. So he's been harder than normal lately so when he's happy and flashes this cute little smile, they seem more precious somehow.
Edit: after one of his worst nights EVER, he woke up screaming every thirty minutes 4 times in a row even after we gave him motrin! But then this morning there was a little tooth! The weird thing is that it popped through in a spot that has never been red or swollen yet! And then today he was his happy content self and took great naps.
Found the stairs. I caught him right as he started to sit down. We have it well barricaded now since it's not gateable at the bottom.
He started rolling in his sleep super early (let's be real, so far he's done everything early) and he never really liked any of the baby bouncer things so he never got the common bald spot on the back of his head. I guess he sleeps on his side a lot because he has developed this perfectly straight bald line all the way around his head like he started to get a bowl cut then backed out!
I so wish this picture wasn't blurry but he loves it when Monte wants to help him.
