Just a little update on Monte and some things I want to remember later.
- 16 months of personality!
- Has suddenly in the last couple weeks made major developmental leaps verbally. We were wondering if he would ever start saying actual words and now he all of a sudden is saying several words and seems to be saying a new one daily. Words he says often are, "all done," "good bye," "night night," "daddy," "outside," "hi," "moo," "sssssss (what does a snake say?)," "hat," "eye." Things we think he says or has said "thank you," "banana," "eggs," "Monte," "horse (which comes out more like a hiss)," and I'm sure there's a few more...
- LIVES outside as much as we'll let him. The poor cats! They don't seem to realize that they can run away from him! He carries them around, "pets (slaps)" them, and sits on them!
- He's gotten so much braver lately! He used to stay within the sidewalks of the front yard, not anymore, you look up and that boy is around the house, or to the fence! He is so fun to watch explore! I'm so glad we live in a place where we can let him be outside as much as he wants pretty much!
- Also he loves puddles!
- Turning into quite the climber. Taken a few tumbles but he bounces back quickly. He does love to climb on everything. I kinda love it! hehe He has had to learn that the dining room table is OFF LIMITS! ahhh haha
- Has also turned into a major wallower! Which sometimes I love and sometimes drives me nuts!
- Had his first bee stings :( Three of them and two down his shirt! We were all there and Sid was even holding him and none of the rest of us got stung! How did that even happen?! The one on his wrist had the stinger left in it and Gunnar had to pull it out. He was fine very quickly and we thought we were in the clear but that night he just kept struggling staying asleep and we finally figured out that his wrist was swollen and feverish and very painful. He wouldn't let it touch the mattress. It was so sad! Finally got some antihistamine cream on it and some baby pain reliever down him and the next morning he was as good as new!
- LOVES to go feed the horses with Daddy. Gunnar will ask him if he wants to go feed the horses and he gets so excited, asks Gunnar to pick him up, then turns to me and waves "bye bye." Like, "See ya Mom, we got work to do!"
- Is in a season where he is fascinated with putting lids on and off and on and off, putting something inside something else, then taking it out again, turning things on and off and on and off.
- Finally transitioned to napping in the crib. Goes down on his own and usually sleeps between 2-3 hours. Also puts himself down at night super easy!
